when elodie was 3 months old we went to atlanta. it was monumental in that it was the first flashdance wedding (which is worth checking out!) and while they were busy doing their thing, elodie and i walked to the martin luther king memorial. it was an incredibly rich look into the life of this great man and i was beyond moved. i am glad we have this day to reflect on this man who is such a huge part of our nation's history. anytime you are looking for a source of hope and inspiration, look no further than his many beautiful speeches. or to this tribute to him by nina simone.
'we are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality; tied in a single garment of destiny...strangely enough, i can never be what i ought to be until you are what you ought to be. you can never be what you ought to be until i am what i ought to be.' - mlk jr.
