easter at el capitan canyon
we took a much needed family trip up to el capitan canyon just north of santa barbara. i've been wanting to go for ages but never had the occasion before this spring. we spent our days hiking and swimming and our evenings around the campfire. there is very little cell service so we also got a much needed break from our phones!
when i was little, my family often took camping trips for easter. i have such good memories of dying our easter eggs on the picnic table at the campground and then having a fun hunt the next day. the girls woke up to little easter baskets filled with treats reminiscent of my childhood and then we went to the easter egg hunt hosted by el capitan.
by the time we booked, there was only one cabin and one tent left. we reserved both and my best friend brought her family down from san francisco. we opted to stay in the cabin because elodie was so excited to sleep in a bunk bed. the property has a cute little general store where you can get everything from sunscreen to s'mores kits. we found ourselves wishing we had brought our toddler bicycle seat so we could have had some family bike rides, a cooler, and some beach chairs. everything else we easily found there!
the best thing is the proximity to santa barbara. we went down for lunch at
which was well worth the 20 minute drive!
