there is something in the ritual of the songs, the stories, the trees, colors, smells and the new jammies on christmas eve that has always been special for me. it reminds me of sweet moments with my parents and sisters and brothers and is a path that i'm paving for my daughter. familiarity, connection, tradition.
this IS the first year that i've broke with tradition (new for me!) - we were traveling so much the first two weeks of december that we got a fake tree - a white one at that (michael has always wanted one!) i quite like it!
