i came across the giant play and learn activity book at yolk, a local kid's store in silverlake. it has lovely line drawings of animals, vegetables and tons of stickers. i wanted one for myself but exercised restraint and just 'helped' elodie color hers instead. instead of all the crap toys you can give a child for their birthday, why not give them one of these?
